Yes, Voice, but this is the only music email I've ever been sent, and I occasionally write about my music, don't I? 'Ha! You were supposed to be stopping all that. This is a finance blog.' Yes, yes, but it's only a matter of time before I become a rock and roll shaman, so ... 'So, what? Are you going to become the world's foremost rock and roll shaman blogger, then?' Just shut up, please. I won't even have time for blogging when I'm a rock star. Christ! / Anyway ...
The UK music industry has announced the launch of Vinyl World Congress, a series of international B2B conferences bringing the Vinyl Manufacturing industry together in response to the sustained spike in sales internationally, lead times and the growing need to facilitate trade and co-operation within the industry.
The first event, taking place 15th-16th May 2018 at the Hilton Brighton Metropole , UK is sponsored by the machine manufacturers Pheenix Alpha, Viryl Technologies, Newbilt Machinery, Dugdale and CAF who will be demonstrating their machines and products for prospective record labels, managers and investors who want to bring vinyl manufacturing in house or expand globally.
In addition, Vinyl World Congress Japan will launch in Tokyo in October with a Latin American event in Brazil pencilled in for 2019.
Okay, okay. It sounds really interesting, although I haven't played any vinyl for over twenty-five years. I've still got about a hundred vinyl albums. I sold two hundred for stupid money. 'Stupid meaning good, or stupid meaning bad, boss?' Stupid like you, Voice, yes, meaning bad. I sold an import of the John Lennon and Yoko Ono Two Virgins album for a quid. I sold The Stone Roses album [bought in 1989, when it had only sold sixty thousand copies] for ... twenty pence, I don't know. Ridiculous! / Anyway ...
The Event Director Connolly Mellon said "Demand for Vinyl is higher than it's ever been with lead times between 2-6 months for some to get it manufactured. Both ends of the spectrum (indie and major) have different concerns about the future but right now it's happy days for most manufacturers. We want to see more pressing plants in Asia, South America, Africa, BRIC and beyond, that is where the untapped potential is."

Anything else? Well ... I may as well do a music update. 'I knew it!' Shut up, idiot! / I might have a go at the lyric for my new tune tonight. I'm thinking now of a (roughly) forty-six minute album of eleven songs plus two spare for B-sides or something. Those two songs would be You're Lying and She Loves Me from the first demo. [The fact that I was relying on these songs to "make it" only two years ago shows the progress I've made, I think.] / And I might have a go at some recording at the weekend ...
